Mongoloids
Mongoloids is a work of research-creation that explores Asian diasporic, ethnic identity and intergenerational trauma in cinematic form. Drawing upon auto-theoretical and essayistic methods, I will create a hybrid documentary-fiction film that will entwine my family’s experiences of persecution during the Cultural Revolution, our migration to the US, my childhood, and finally my experiences as a first-time mother. This project is supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (2023-2026), as well as UBC ACRE (Center for Asian Canadian Research and Engagement).
Project is currently in production.
Graduate researchers include Claire Cao, Chuiwen Kong, and Jade Courchesne.
